Top 5 Spots for Summer Picnics

Summer is such a wonderful time for picnics with the family. The warmth of the sun and a cool breeze is all you need to set the stage for a spectacular time. We believe that summer picnics are a great way to spend time with the family and enjoy nature at is finest. Here are 5 of our favorite places to take the kids on a memorable family picnic.

1. National or State Park

Most parks offer a multitude of outdoor activities such a bike trails, observation areas, learning centers and picnic spots. Get the family out and explore the many learning opportunities that State and National parks offer. It may sound impossible but kids may learn and have fun at the same time.

2. Zoo

Here is another way to have fun while learning new things. Going to the zoo is a great family outing and most will let you bring a picnic lunch and eat in designated areas. Get there in the morning while the animals are just up and by lunch time you will have a ton of things to share with each other as you picnic.

3. Community Festivals

You can find current events in the local paper or simply contact your local chamber of commerce. Entrance fees are normally nominal and there is plenty to entertain every age in your party. Bring a picnic blanket and a lunch with you will help cut down the cost and avoid those fat filled fried foods.

4. Your Backyard or maybe Front Yard

The backyard may not sound that exciting but wait, have you ever explored every nook and cranny. It can turn out to be the biggest memory maker in your kids life. To make it a little more exciting hide special "finds" around the yard for exploration. I guarantee laying out the blanket and looking up in the sky and guessing cloud pictures will ignite your child's imagination and put a smile on your face.

5. In the middle of no where!

OK, this is my favorite. Just drive. Set a timer and when it goes off pull over where ever you are at, enjoy a picnic in the middle of no where. (make sure you pull off in a safe place) I pretty much guarantee that you will be the first to picnic at the particular spot. You may even get to see some wildlife or at least a bunny or two.
