Tips for Preparing a Picnic

The most difficult task of a picnic is remembering everything. Preparing for a picnic is the key to making the outdoor event a success. Keep these simple tips in mind to ensure your day is all about rest and relaxation.
When packing a picnic, don't forget these essentials:
Safety and Comfort:
- Blanket
- Insect repellent
- Sunscreem
- umbrella

Pack a comfortable picnic blanket which will not only provide a comfortable place to sit but also prevent the crawling things (bugs) from intruding on your picnic. Sometimes the ground is wet so some picnic blankets are made with a waterproof backing which help keep everyone dry and happy.
Coming home after a great picnic bug bitten and sun burnt can ruin the whole memory. Remember to pack sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and an umbrella.
Serving:
- Most picnic baskets or backpacks includes plates, utensils, cloth napkins, cups, and an insulated cooler compartment. A lot of picnic baskets and picnic packs will sometimes include salt and pepper shakers, tablecloths, wine bottle openers, insulated wine cooler compartments and thermoses.
- Napkins
- Plates
- Silverware
- Serving utensils
- Cups and wine glasses
- Corkscrew or bottle opener
- Paring knife
- Cutting Board
- Condiments
Transporting and Storage:
- Cooler stocked with Ice or Ice packs
- Plastic Wrap
- Food Storage Containers

Cold packs are preferable to ice, because they won’t melt and leak all over the place after a long day in the sun. Also remember lots of fluids (including non-alcoholic beverages for rehydrating).
Having containers to store left overs is always helpful. Remember: Perishable foods must be kept cold.
Clean up:
- Damp wipes or cloths for washing up
- First Aid Kit
- Garbage bag
Last, don't forget the Family and Friends!
